Small Cafe, Klaipeda, Lithuania

Project type : Competition, 1st Prize winner

Year : 2016

Location : Klaipeda, Lithuania

The designed building of the cafe is in the historical part of Klaipeda city, nearby the important public square. Because of the unique location and the existing public network, the cafe is designed as a living room - the space has not only the public, but also private features. That is why the recreational space is
opened up towards the inner court yard. The designed shape and place of the terrace demolishes the boarder between the inside and outside.
The relatively big roof plane, which is directed towards the street helps to create the specific character : small skylights are designed as if it was an ornament, that becomes an interpretation
of the neighbourhood roofs’ detailing. The proposed finishing
material is concrete.
